Empty chamber welded membrane filter plates

Klinkau empty chamber membrane filter plates can be used for partially filled or empty chambers. The membrane remains undamaged at the hinged areas during squeezing, even when the chamber is underfilled or empty.

Advantages of empty chamber membrane filter plates

  • Allows squeezing into an underfilled or empty chamber
  • Solid plastic membrane filter plate with welded membranes
  • Variable choice of materials for high chemical resistance, no steel parts necessary.
  • Guaranteed separation of squeeze medium and filtrate

Technische Daten

Sizes800mm, 1000mm, 1200mm, 1500mm, 1.5m x 2m, 2m x 2m. Larger and alternative sizes available on request.
Feed eye positionCentralised feed, decentralised feed, corner feed, external feed eye. Other feed eye positions can be provided according to individual requirements.
PressureStandard products are suitable for maximum filtration pressures of 7 bar and maximum squeeze pressures of 16 bar. Plates also available for higher filtration and squeeze pressures.
TemperaturesThe maximum permissible filtration temperature depends on factors such as filtration pressure, squeeze pressure, the chemical composition of the slurry to be filtered, cycle time and choice of filter material. Membrane cooling or heating is also possible during the filtration cycle.
MaterialsKlinkau filter plates are available in the following materials: Polypropylene, modified polypropylene, PVDF as well as our own specially developed membrane material. A combination of different materials can be used for the frame and membrane.

Technology

Partially filled and empty chambers can result from irregular chamber filling or non-homogeneous slurry. With standard membrane filter plates, damage can then occur through flexing during the squeeze phase. The empty chamber design was therefore developed to support the membrane during the filling phase and when squeezing into empty chambers. Membrane flexing is then avoided and damage prevented.

Klinkau membrane filter plates have two hinged lines that keep flex pressure at the hinged areas to a minimum during filtration and squeezing, thereby extending the membrane service life.

Slurry volumes and solid content vary in many filtration processes so that irregular chamber filling can occur. The empty chamber system is designed to cope with such cases as well as with highly compressible gel-like products that produce very thin filtrate cake. If cake washing is required, the chambers need to be sufficiently filled.
