Clip replaceable empty chamber membrane filter plate

The empty chamber clip version of Klinkau's replaceable membrane filter plates is a development based of the overhanging replaceable design. It has all the major benefits of the welded version. As for all Klinkau replaceable membrane filter plates, this product can also cope with squeezing into empty chambers.

The membrane plate is equipped with a special clip system at the sealed edges so that no other extra fixing is necessary. Perfect sealing between the membrane and body plate is achieved through the integrated seals into membrane itself. Therefore, the seals are automatically replaced when the membrane is replaced.

Furthermore, the system can be designed to have a fully replaceable membrane without the need for steel parts. This is especially usefull in highly corrosive environments that would otherwise require very costly steel parts.

Its ring channel around the outside of the filter plate allows for even wash water distribution which in return aids the washing efficiency and wash water consumption.

Advantages of the Clip replaceable empty chamber membrane filter plate

  • Permits squeezing on empty or partially filled chambers
  • Sealing integrated into the membrane
  • Interlocking clip system to prevent squeeze medium leakages even when opening the filter press
  • Ring channel covering the whole filtration surface for optimized wash water circulation
  • Variable choice of materials for high chemical resistance
  • No steel parts necessary

Technical Data

Sizes1200mm, 1500mm. Larger and alternative sizes available on request.
Feed eye positionCentralised feed, corner feed. Other feed eye positions can be provided according to individual requirements.
PressureStandard products are suitable for maximum filtration pressures of 7 bar and maximum squeeze pressures of 16 bar. Plates also available for higher filtration and squeeze pressures.
TemperaturesThe maximum permissible filtration temperature depends on factors such as filtration pressure, squeeze pressure, the chemical composition of the slurry to be filtered, cycle time and choice of filter material.
MaterialsMembranes are available in the following materials: Polypropylene, modified polypropylene, PVDF as well as our own specially developed membrane material. A combination of different materials can be used for the membrane and membrane body plate.

Technology

As with the welded membrane filter plates, replaceable membrane filter plates also use membrane squeezing instead of the inefficient phase of pressure filtration, the dewatering to the required residual moisture in the filter cake. Filtering efficiency is therefore maximised throughout the filtration phase and filtration times are significantly reduced.

Klinkau's clip version is designed according to the different functions of the membrane and the body plate. The body plate's function is to cope with the mechanical requirements of a chamber filter plate. It is designed to support the membrane during the filtration process. The plate has a pipped profile so the membrane does not lie completely flat to the plate. This ensures an even lift of during the squeezing phase, aiding in an even filter cake build up.

The membrane in the clip version is connected to the plate at the sealing edge with an interlocking clip mechanism, and at the centralised feed area with a steel ring or a special steel free locking design.

The filtrate drainage outlets are located only in the plate itself. The membrane is therefore suitable for filtration applications with or without cake washing. A ring channel covering the entire filtration surface optimizes wash water circulation behind the filter cloth, making this membrane filter plate ideal for applications requiring highly efficient cake washing. Klinkau membrane filter plates have two hinge lines that keep flexion tension to a minimum at the hinge areas during filtration and squeezing, thus extending the service life of the membranes. Squeezing into empty chambers is possible without damaging the membrane.
